The Geauga Theater has a strong emphasis on Education. Art and Theater Education classes are offered throughout the year to provide a chance for the young and old to refine their talents. Classes are currently being offered in the art and theater disciplines.

Performing Arts
NEW! Homeschool Youth & Teen Class
Instructor: Angela Miloro-Hansen
Mondays, April 16-May 21 from 10:00am-12:00pm at the Geauga Theater
Performance: May 23 at 7:00pm
Ages:9-18
Cost: $80
Students will be cast in a one act show. They will be given costumes, lights,
sound and will perform for an audience. The goal is to give students a taste of theater in a relaxed and fun environment. Everyone will have their moment!

Adult Shakespeare Scene Study (REGISTRATION OPEN)

Mondays, Mar 26th and April 2nd from 6-9pm at the theater
Ages: 18 and older
Cost: $50
Shakespeare’s language offers an actor clues on how to develop his character and how to perform a scene. After an introduction to speaking Shakespeare’s verse, students will work on scenes to explore this idea.

Drawing & Painting

Students will learn the basics of drawing from realistic rendering to one-point
perspective. Students will then use these skills to create an acrylic painting on canvas board.

NEW! Sculpture Studio

To learn the basics of three dimensional art, students will create hand built
ceramic sculpture, work with paper mache and learn about famous as well as local sculptors.

Digital Audio Production

Ages: 8 – 11
Cost: $90 ($20 materials fee)
Discover the various methods of creating sounds using computer programs. Mix, loop, and sample pieces of music creating sounds from numerous instruments. Students take home a CD of their projects. Computers are provided for students class use.

Students learn how to move the body for stage movement. The stage blends forms of ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz and stage blocking to create a style all its own. Classes include warm-ups, combinations and freestyle work.

Build and sculpt lean muscles, strengthen your core, improve your flexibility while burning fat and calories by using one set of 5 lb. dumbbells. Bring one set of 5lb. dumbbells, exercise mat and a stretch band to class. Accommodates all fit levels.

This workshop will perform a series of entertaining one acts by David Ives. You will be challenged as an actor and learn new skills for your performance “bag o’ tricks,” including working to create monologues for college scholarships. The opportunity is available to attend Thespian Festival in Nebraska the week of June 25 – July 1. (Optional event that involves additional cost.) This is an amazing week of theatre that includes students, college, and professional theatre folks from all over the U.S. For upcoming seniors, scholarships to colleges are available as well.
