About Skip Kelley

Stuart "Skip" Kelley, the namesake for this youth series, was a strong proponent of involving youth in every aspect of theater production, especially guiding them in the mysteries of technical theater areas, such as sound production and lighting design. Kelley's talents led him to contribute to Telarc Records, the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cincinnati Pops, the Atlanta Symphony, Cain Park, the Hanna Theater, Chagrin Valley Little Theatre and Orange Stagecrafters during his lifetime. When he passed away in 2005, his former students worked with the leadership at the guild to create a youth series in his name. To this day, up to half of the members of GLTG tech crews usually are students under 18 years of age, and many of them have gone on to careers in technical theater Skip always worked hard with the kids and expected them to do adult level quality worked on whatever they chose, no matter their age. In the Heights seems to be fitting that bill! It is a multifaceted musical with challenging music and dance. Northeast Ohio is filled with talented youth that we believe will make Skip proud as they perform this exciting new musical.
